What types of injection molds are available for two-color injection molding machines?
Publish: 2026-04-08 16:54:41 View: 155The two-color injection molding machine is a dual-barrel, dual-material machine that utilizes two-color molds to eliminate the need for secondary processing of products with different colors or materials. Compared to single-color injection molding machines, it simplifies the complex process of secondary processing and enhances production efficiency. So, what type of injection molding model does a two-color injection molding machine employ?
1. Sliding injection molding:
After the pre-injection of the two-color injection molding machine, the mold and slide remain closed. The injector of the injection molding machine injects the second part of the raw material into the mold cavity until the second part is completed and cooled. The mold opens and the entire part is removed. This process is mainly used for parts with simple geometric shapes, such as seals, covers, and sealing caps.
2. Rotating disc injection molding:
The moving mold half can rotate, and only the fixed mold half components are affected by the product geometry. Therefore, this technology can be used to achieve a good unilateral design concept. Since this technology allows for simultaneous injection, it is commonly used to save processing cycles, primarily for beverage cups, cup handles, cup lids, and processing seals.
3. Transposition injection molding:
This technology is primarily utilized where modifications to the injection molding of parts or alterations to the product's shape are necessary. This injection molding technique significantly enhances the design freedom of products and is commonly employed in the adjustment of car wheels, the manufacturing of toothbrushes, and disposable razors.
During the injection molding process, the pre-injection molded part is moved to the second position by a robotic arm and then injected, thus providing a large degree of freedom for the first and second injections. This technology is mainly applied to process injection molding in the fields of cylinder transmission shafts and toothbrush processing.
A common feature of the mold processing method for two-color injection molding machines is the use of high-level closed-loop control. This ensures that the secondary injection does not deviate from the predetermined speed and actual pressure requirements, thereby guaranteeing product quality.
